RAM modified Music Hall cd25

The R.A.M ( response audio modificatioin) is a modd used proprietarily for Bella Extreme out of NY. There a lot companies out there who uses the the music hall cd25 has the platform for their mods. Most of the mods done to the music hall cd25 are mostly  replacing op-amp for another  or upgraded power supply.... Bella Extrem has taken the music hall a step further by adding tubes in the mix along with, ofcourse the benefit of swapping op-amps,. Also, damping materials under the cover, on the and aroud the stransport to tame vibration and EAR feet, which is made with a silicon like material.. so soft indeed, that the player was delivered with cut-out wax paper under the feet in order not to damage stand or of leave a round stain, impression on the particular resting suface

Ok, Music Hall cd25 is also  the Shanling cd-S100 and I think Onix ???

Bella EXtreme has taken the Music Hall CD25 for that first picture to bottom pic. Do you see the difference. you also can see in the left corner of the second pic another power supply. Plus the damping material that my unit is equipped with.

RAMstock RAMinside

There is nothing spectacular about the CD25 construction. Infact it is similar to my Oppo players, another chinese import .

Here are some specs about this unit:

 • burr-brown pcm 1738 24bit/192kHz DAC    ( FYI used in the
Ayre CX-7 CD player)

 philips VAM 1202/19 transport
• thick brushed aluminum front plate and solid chassis
• two digital outputs: 1 coaxial and 1 optical
• standard analog output
• gorgeous slim line system remote control
• easily readable and dimmable florescent display
• detachable power cord
• voltage switchable

w17 x d14.5 x h3 in.
15 lbs. pkg

The stock unit is said to an ok player for the price, so I guess DYIers thought they could capitalized by upgrading a few part then re-sell them at about 3 times the cost.

I don't have remote for unit so, I can't really say how it respond for a particular distance and or location. But from I read elsewhere,  the remote controls , play, stop, fast f, rew,. and dims the unit, but not totally.., and the unit does not read text( I loved that feature with the Acute) nor does the unit tell you remaining time, or elapsed time.

life after the Acute

After I've sold the Acute ( I hope that dysney cruise is worth it), I bought a modified Music Hall 25 cdp. Modified by some guy at Modwright for Response audio. The one that I have is the original( go figure), it still uses op amps . 2 of them for that matter. up until then, I had no clue what op amp were or what they are used for. But since this player, I have done some reseach, such is the nature of knowledge.Contrary to what some may think, OP amps makes a difference in sound. I am quiet happy with this find, cause, I like to mess around with easily movable parts.

 Here are some pics of the mod:0909050041 0909050042 0909050043 0909050045 0909050046 0909050035

You can now see from the pics that they added tubes, dampers and a power supply....(tube on top of that black thing)

Audio playback

How can anyone be sure that are experiencing the exact content.  There are so many variables in audio.(?) Playback is highly subjective. I think it's an oxymoron to think that one has the best playback system.. Audio is a purely personel medium, no two person react to it the same ways. Your holygrail system will not please everyone. There is always a fault. That fault is a human attribute( experience). Let's not forget that there is nothing like the real thing. Given that one may hear more details, feel really good listening a recording as opposed to the live performance, whether it was because of the location of his seat or the venue,(?) but no playback  will ever amount to a  live event, ever!.  I read countless reviews and visted many websites, everyone is an expert.... They all know what's the best, or not so..... Most of the time, we can't even describe what we feel or hearing(?) and what we feel or hear may not be obvious to the other person.

Playback is a subjective experience. Investing a lot of money in playback does not translate to the best performance.

Not a bad sound, It was huge and deep, detailed, good separation, engaging, mid was a little veiled IMHO...Could have been the speakers. Not sure.  But some of the seasoned members discribed it a "very good digital"  The player was the Azur 840c

The Blue circle products, cable lifters, racks, stands are the host's .
